I was born and raised in Rochester, NY. Growing up, both my mom's and dad's sides of the families owned small businesses. Rochester is a hard working town and my family was no different. I learned early on the benefits of working hard and pursuing something with abandon.

I came to work behind the camera by first working in front of it. I didn't realize it as I was going through my training, but I put together a skill set that gave me the tools to help actors create great performances and to help real people get to the truth of their experience. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing better than a day on set.

If I was ever to be President Of The United States, I would create a law in which everyone has to do one year of "service" working in a restaurant. I think the world would be a better place if we all had a little bit of the humility that the service industry teaches.
